Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (IMU-PMS), Third Year (5 years programme)

I sat for the Cambridge A levels in Abu Dhabi where I live and I felt only partially preparde for medicine. However, the first year of IMU was a foundation year and coverd what I had previously not learnt in pre-U. Ihave just finished semester 5 this June and will tranfer to Brighton and Sussex Medical School in UK this September.

The most Challeging part of my course is remembering everything that we come across daily. The key to overcoming this I belive is repetition and acarefully laid out study plan. In addition, lecturers in IMU are always happ to clarify doubt and provide advice.

Extracurriculor activities have always been an integral part of my development although somethimes it hard to find the time. In IMU I have participated in running and mountain climbing activities. I have also represented IMU internationally at the 4th Asian Universities Debating Championship.

Upon Completion of my MBBS and subsequent intership I would like to specialise in paediatrics, particularly surgery.

    Dentistry, 5 Years (second-year student)

My course of study is dentistry. This entails the study of medical curriculum on top of dental lab work and our own dental curriculum. The most challenging aspect of my course is coping with the heavy workload of both medical and dental curriculum, as well as long hours of dental lab work. This is overcome by having friends who encourage each other and help each other along, and the patience of lecturers and other dental staff.

In 2010, I was elected the vice secretary of my school house, I was also an assistant emcee during our oral health week. Outside of school, I enjoy doing yoga, pilates, and cooking.

    Medicine, 2 1/2 years

I am currently in the second year of the medical programme in IMU. I first heard of IMU from an ex-student, who had graduated to studying in UK, US, Canada and Australasia. It is closer to home, and not all that different. IMU saves us time as we can bypass the first degree requirement, required by certain Universities for an entry into their medical programmes.

    Medicine, 1 1/2 years

I am from the beautiful country of Gambia and I am currently studying medicine. Living in Malaysia is not as bad as I thought it would be. Coming from Gambia, a very far and totally different place, I never thought that it would be so easy to adapt to the local environment. Communication was a problem initially but with English and a bit of Bahasa Melayu, you can easily find your way in this country.”
